What It Is

Rise of the Gorecats is a retro pixel-art arcade shooter built by Emmy Award-winning animation studio StudioNX (Bristol/Toronto), creators of Marvel's Battleworld and Niko and the Sword of Light. The game pits players against relentless waves of mutant horror cats, with horde-mode survival gameplay that rewards skillful weapon management and high-score chasing.

As of June 2026, Season 2 is LIVE with an active $941 prize pool tournament. The game has 3,445 total players, 381,363 total kills, and 4,258 games played. Season 1 is frozen. Top players compete on PSG1 and Seeker platforms.

The tournament structure features a Battle Pass purchase + leaderboard climb system, with prizes distributed to top scorers and random participants. A dedicated leaderboard at score.gorecats.io shows real-time rankings.
